The CCIE certification program is unique in that it measures your expertise not through prerequisite coursework but through your unique skills and qualifications. You must first pass a written qualification exam which measures your existing knowledge about Cisco equipment and networking in the track for which you are pursuing this credential. CCIE candidates must thoroughly understand the topics and should have at least three years of experience before attempting the qualification exam. After passing the qualification exam, you will be eligible to take the hands-on, 8-hour lab exam. In order to be successful in either exam, a good training program such as one of Countrywide Training's CCIE boot camps is highly recommended. This training supplements your current experience and helps ensure that you have all of the skills that will be measured. You can attend CCIE bootcamps at any point in the process. For example, if you haven't yet taken the qualification exam, attending a Cisco boot camp before hand can help you prepare for successfully passing it. In addition, you can attend a CCIE boot camp after the written qualification exam as you prepare for the hands-on lab exam. You must take your lab exam within 18 months of successfully passing the qualification exam and you have a full three years to finally pass it.
