Windows 7 New Features

The release of Windows 7 has been one of the most talked about software releases in years. For a number of reasons, the general public strongly desired the release of this new operating system for their personal computers – most reasons stemming from a strong distaste for Microsoft’s last operating system, Windows Vista. With the arrival of Windows 7 comes an abundance of new features that not only satisfy the desires of a computing public, but create an overall greater stabilization in the operational aspects of computer systems utilizing Microsoft software.

Most of the changes made between the releases of Windows Vista to Windows 7 were the result of a large public outcry that demanded an operating system that functioned at a success rate that was equivalent to that of Windows XP. Where Windows Vista brought an incredible amount of headaches to computer users, Windows 7 was to offer a simplified approach to computing for the average person. For starters, Windows 7 brings about a more user friendly interface which applies several new features, such as the Live Taskbar and the Shake feature. The Live Taskbar feature is an integrated approach to categorizing open windows on the computer screen. Through merely highlighting the icon on the taskbar, a new window appears to visually show you which windows are available for you to open, switch to, or jump back and forth from. The Shake feature comes in handy for multiple windows which clutter a user’s desktop. With this feature, the user selects a window with their mouse, and shakes it; causing all subsequent windows to be restored to the taskbar. There are also greater Parental Control peripherals installed to make computing safer for children.

Some other changes that have come along with Windows 7 have to do with integrating new peripherals to your Windows system. Windows 7 has a new unique method of connecting items to your home network. Now, networking items such as computers, gaming systems, printers, or sharing files between all of them has become easier with a newly designed Home Group feature – which takes the guess work out of networking configuration between these devices. This feature also comes in handy when you wish to play movies or music stored on your computer elsewhere in your home. The Search feature that Windows has utilized over its last two major operation systems has been redone for Windows 7 and now allows for faster searching capabilities within your system. Other features that have been brought to the consumer with Windows 7 is a higher degree of personal customization, touch screen capabilities, and a system that operates or lower system resources when compared to its predecessor, Windows Vista.

As far as an operational system goes, Windows 7 has been tailored to the needs and desires of the consumer. Microsoft has created a new a new standard for a user friendly OS with its release of Windows 7 through the litany of modifications it has both visually and mechanically interfaced into this release. The average consumer, when presented with demonstrations of Windows 7 and its features that were designed with the consumer in mind, could be easily convinced into upgrading their OS to Microsoft’s latest product.
